Given the worrying situation of language learning in the UK, the Wall of Language aims to ask all MPs and prospective MPs for their views about the importance of languages and language learning. Their views will then be displayed on the Wall of Language website.
The aim is that each political party makes a statement about the importance of languages and language learning in their manifesto.
We are inviting all those who consider the issue important to contact their prospective MP to ascertain their views.
Two key issues amongst others are:
- the inability to provide enough foreign language speakers for UK business needs.
- the help that languages and language learning can bring in issues of ‘social cohesion’.
